Stephanie Savransky is all too familiar with daily doses of medicine
and achy joints.
Being a mother of a 7-year-old with juvenile diabetes, she knows
of the trials and tribulations of the illness.
“She has stiffness in her joints and fingers and is on daily
medication as well as injections. But she is a remarkable kid and
she never complains,” she said.
Although the local mother goes through daily challenges, she decided
not to give up hope and help others in the process.
Savransky and Gail Michaels, who also has a child with arthritis,
recently organized a fundraiser at Simply Me Day Spa in Coral Springs.
About 30 women showed up for the recent Girls Nite Out event which
offered spa services, food, drinks, and gifts.
“We raised $1,000 for three hours. It was amazing for three
hours of people getting pampered,” said Savransky.
The funds raised will go towards the Arthritis Foundation and research
for juvenile arthritis.
“We plan to make this an annual event at the spa,” she
said.
The women are also planning other fundraisers for arthritis including
a fashion show set for November and in April there will be a 5K walk
in Parkland.
“It’s so important to raise money, and all the money
will go to research to provide medication for these kids,” she
said.
