Reading and Learning Clinic of Coral Springs Celebrates 25 Years

The Reading and Learning Clinic of Coral Springs recently celebrated its 25th anniversary; instructors who work at the center spend after-school hours tutoring children in order to improve their academic skills. A full range of academic programs are offered year-round; these programs include individualized tutoring in all subject areas, FCAT preparation, study skills, math and writing workshops, SAT/ACT preparation, speed-reading and diagnostic testing.

Massages at Coral Springs Whole Foods Market

Pre-Colombian Sculpture Workshop in Coral Springs

A pre-Colombian clay sculpture workshop for participants ages 13-adult will be held at the Coral Springs Museum of Art from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, March 1; the sculptures will be based on forms representing animals, people and fruit, and can also be turned into musical instruments. The cost is $145 for members and $160 for non-members; registration is limited to 15 participants and a minimum of 12 students must be present in order to hold the workshop. College Basketball Preparation Event at Coral Springs Whole Foods Market

Whole Foods Market will hold a college basketball preparation event, featuring wings and pretzel tasting, from noon-4 p.m. Saturday, March 1. The event is free, with no reservations required. For more information, call 954-753-8000.

Coral Springs Softball Exhibition

Teams playing for Coral Springs’ Fastpitch Softball league will be participating in an eight-game exhibition with Team Canada at Betty Stradling Park Wednesday, March 5. There will be four teams in the following age groups: 16, 14, 13, 12; there will be opening ceremonies that will include the U.S. and Canadian national anthems. Sixth Annual Langerado Music Festival

The sixth annual Langerado Music Festival will take place at the Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation March 6-9. The event will feature such acts as R.E.M., Beastie Boys, Phil Lesh & Friends, 311, Matisyahu, Ani DiFranco, Ben Folds, The Roots and more; tickets start at $169.50 for weekend passes. Business Trade Show in Coral Springs

The Coral Springs Chamber of Commerce’s 2008 Business-to-Business Table Top Trade Show will take place in the grand ballroom of the La Quinta Inn from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, March 13; two free drinks and free hors d’oeuvres will be provided to each guest. Admission is $10 for Chamber members with a RSVP, $15 for members without a RSVP and $20 for non-members; the exhibitor cost is $175, which includes a six-foot tabletop display. Mean Girls Musical in Coral Springs

A musical production of the teen movie Mean Girls will take place at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts at 8 p.m.

Our Town America

Our Town America, the annual three-day family festival that raises funds for non-profit groups throughout the community, has announced its entertainment schedule for its 28th annual event. Our Town America: “Celebrating Community and Family since 1979” will be held from Feb. 29 through March 2 at the Coral Springs Sportsplex, 2575 Sportsplex Drive, Coral Springs. The festival hours will be Friday, February 29, from 6-11 p.m., Saturday, March 1, from 10 a.m.-11 p.m., and Sunday, March 2, from 12 noon-6 p.m. Festival entry is free with a nominal charge for parking.
