If you want a unique portrait of your family or to seize a memory, Leslie Peri is known for capturing those moments.

Hence the name of her business Capture the Moment, Peri takes photographs of families in a unique setting.

“I take photos of families and kids that are unique portraits,” said Peri. “They are not taken in the studio, but mainly in outdoor settings, such as parks or the beach.”

Instead of candid shots, the Parkland mother takes photographs that are more “natural.”

“Everyone is not always looking at the camera,” she said.
About 10 years ago, Peri started the business after she began taking more photos of her own family.

“I had my first daughter and I started taking photos of her, and other families saw them and wanted me to take photos of their families,” said Peri, who has a degree in photography from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale.
Being a mother and working with students gives Peri an advantage when taking pictures.

“I’m good with kids,” said Peri, who has three children. “And I love working with kids. If they need to take a break, we’ll take a break. I’m a mom so I understand.”

On any given shoot, Peri will snap about 200 photos and give the actual pictures back in only 2 or 3 days. Also, when returning the photos Peri spends time with all her customers helping them choose their favorites. The local mainly takes photos of families, but also takes many of expecting mothers.

Capture the Moment is offering specials for this Mother’s Day and Father’s Day and gift certificates.
