First Car Show: A Success For Teen Car Club

Onlookers gazed at hundreds of shiny rims and antique automobiles at the city’s first Car Show.
The show, sponsored by Project CS Teen Car Club and co-sponsored by Big Dick’s Muscle Cars, recently drew hundreds of vehicles from Aston Martins to antique cars at the Sportsplex.
“The turnout was spectacular. There were around 800 people that attended not counting the vendors and about 130 cars with 89 registering for the contest,” said Coral Springs Vice Mayor Vince Boccard, who created the concept of a Teen Car Club.
At the show, awards were given out to various categories of cars. In addition, there was live entertainment from the Fabulons, food, and various vendors. The Car Show was sponsored by Big Dick’s Muscle Cars, Our Town News, and the City of Coral Springs. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office also brought vehicles and a helicopter.  
Boccard said the teens made the event a success.
“The teens in the Car Club were responsible for setting up the night before, getting the vendors, and collecting and organizing cars,” Boccard said. “I’m just elated by the enthusiasm the kids are having and not only the kids but the mothers and fathers. It strengthened their relationship and gave them something to relate to. There was also a tremendous outreach from the business community and citizens.”
The Car Show raised $4,000, which will go toward Project CS and efforts of customizing confiscated vehicles.
And the next step for the Car Club?
“We will be fixing up a car,” said Boccard. “What the car show did for a kid is give them credibility. People in the industry and business community know that we are a real organization that is put on and organized by teens.”
