In the past few months, Vince Boccard has received much good news.
Most recently, he was appointed as the new Vice Mayor of Coral Springs.
Even more reason to rejoice, “We’re going to have a baby,”
said Boccard, who is expecting a child with wife Terry.
With all this good news, Boccard feels like one of the luckiest guys
in Coral Springs.
His recent appointment as Vice Mayor came as a fortunate surprise.
“I didn’t expect the endorsement by the Mayor, but of
course I felt honored and privileged,” Boccard said. “I
was kind of taken back to some degree but am looking forward to serving
as Vice Mayor in absence of the Mayor.”
After serving as a city commissioner since March 2006, the Coral
Springs City Commission appointed Boccard as Vice Mayor Nov. 20. He
previously served eight years as vice mayor and village commissioner
of El Portal in Miami Dade County.
“It’s an honor and a privilege and I just hope that
I can represent the City as well as former Vice Mayor Gold,”
Boccard said, after receiving his new title.
As Vice Mayor, Boccard’s role is to step in for mayoral duties
such as ribbon cuttings and city events when the Mayor is unable to
attend. Boccard has much experience to go along with the title. He
has been a Coral Springs resident for over a decade and has been involved
in the community for years. He participates in the Citizens Emergency
Response Team, Coral Springs Chamber of Commerce, and the Coral Springs
Citizens Government Involvement Committee. He is also a member of
the Coral Springs Construction Review Board, the Coral Springs International
Soccer Committee, and the Building Owners and Managers Association
of South Florida. On the philanthropic side, Boccard has also founded
the Lisa Boccard Coral Springs Breast Cancer Foundation for women
without healthcare in the city.
He also holds many other titles serving as the Director of Coral
Springs International Partnerships, chairman of Coral Springs Renewing
Together, and chairman of Cluster Neighborhood Committee. He is also
a proud sponsor of youth athletics in the community and is the president
of the Coral Springs Skateboard Park Committee.
Boccard said he looks forward to serving a community he calls home.
“I moved here 10 yrs ago because of the schools. I like the
way the city is run and the ordinances we have, and how it is run
as a business,” he said. “I’m also very proud and
honored that we have become the first government agency to win the
Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.”
Vice Mayor Boccard has set aside time for residents to have an opportunity
to speak directly with a member of the City Commission. He holds office
hours at City Hall, 9551 West Sample Road, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on
the second Tuesday of every month. He also holds meetings at Wings
Plus, 9880 West Sample Road, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. also the second
Tuesday of every month.
