Brandon Meyer could be the next heartthrob on the big screen.

The Coral Springs resident recently appeared in the film, Still Green. The movie surrounds ten best friends during the summer after high school graduation. The friends rent a beach house before separating for college. However, a tragic accident in the ocean changes and tests friendship.

Meyer, 20, plays the supporting role of Daneck in the film, which recently won the Spirit of Independents Award at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival.

“He’s one of the friends that just graduated and got a scholarship to Dartmouth College. He’s like the middle man between everyone. People go to him for advice and he has a girlfriend named Monica,” said Meyer, a student at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton.

This is the college student’s first film, although he began acting at a young age.

“I’ve always been in front of the camera,” he said.

When he was a senior at JP Taravella High School in Coral Springs, he won the 2005 Cappie Award for Best Comic Actor in the play, A Flea In Her Ear. From there, he was accepted into the film and video production and International Business Departments at FAU. Meyer said he has appeared in several FAU short films and a number of television commercials filmed in South Florida.

“I love the fact that you can become different people and assume different identities that you’ve never dreamed of being,” he said, adding, “I just love to act in front of crowds and the whole process of filmmaking.”

Meyer said he enjoyed acting in the film and hopes to continue to “do work I am proud of and that stands the test of time.”
He plans to act in future works of the Director of Still Green. He advises others who are interested in pursuing acting to “go for it.”

“I saw this audition for Still Green and went for it. I didn’t think I would get it but I did,” Meyer said. “So go for it.”
